1. Overview & Core Philosophy

Bayan AAC is designed with a privacy-first, offline-first architecture. We believe that assistive speech and communication tools should be completely private, secure, and accessible without tracking or harvesting personal information.

2. Data Collection and Usage

• No Personal Identification Collection: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account credentials.
• Local Voice Recordings: When you use the voice recording feature to record custom voice clips for AAC cards, the audio is stored strictly locally on your device using on-device browser/app storage (IndexedDB / local storage). Voice recordings are never uploaded to any remote server or cloud database.
• Audio & Speech Data: Text-to-speech rendering is performed locally using the Android device's built-in speech engine or Web Speech API. We do not transmit spoken sentences or conversation logs to external servers.
• Custom Cards & Preferences: All personalized cards, categories, quick phrases, and app settings are stored locally on your device.

3. Device Permissions

• Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): Used exclusively to allow users, caregivers, or speech therapists to record customized voice clips for specific AAC cards when the user taps "Record Voice".
• Internet (INTERNET): Used only for standard web/app asset loading and any user-initiated external web resources. The core AAC communication engine operates fully offline.

4. Third-Party Services & Tracking

Bayan AAC does not contain third-party advertising SDKs, behavioral analytics trackers, or user profiling tools. We do not sell, rent, or monetize user data.

5. Children's Privacy

Bayan AAC is suitable for users of all ages, including children with speech and communication challenges. Because we do not collect any personal information or communicate data over external servers, our app complies with children's privacy principles, including COPPA.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Because all data is stored on your device, you have complete control over your data. You can delete individual custom cards or voice recordings directly within the app, or clear all app data by clearing the app storage in your Android settings or uninstalling the app.
